It's Good To Talk:)

Hi everyone,

At The Medi-Shed, we believe that true beauty comes from feeling good on the inside as well as the outside. If you're finding things heavy or challenging, know that you're not alone. Talking to someone who understands can make all the difference.

As we start a new year, it’s worth noting that around 1 in 8 people in the UK are currently undergoing some sort of talking therapy, and nearly a third of adults have sought help from a counsellor or psychotherapist in the past 12 months according to the British Association of Counselling Professionals (BACP), while the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) has just released this survey indicating talking therapy has the greatest impact on mental health. If there was any remaining stigma around seeking therapy, 2024 certainly put paid to that. According to the BACP the five top reasons for seeking therapy are as follows: help with stress and anxiety, depression, improving self-esteem, dealing with specific trauma and/or PTSD and grief associated with relationship loss.

Our therapist, Kurban Kassam, is trained across multiple disciplines which means he can work with your issues through a mixture of treatments. Having trouble relaxing? Maybe try some guided meditation and breath work or event some art therapy. Do you want to explore your true feelings and emotions more?

He could try an experiential technique called Gestalt. Do you have specific behaviours which you want to understand better? You may want to work together using Cognitive Behavioural Therapy or Dialectical behaviour therapy. He will always work together in collaboration to choose the treatment that’s appropriate for you, and will move between them as seamlessly as possible will exploring underlying causes as and when appropriate in a compassionate framework.

My brother Kurban offers a safe and supportive space to help you navigate life's ups and downs. It's not just about aesthetics, it’s about holistic care for your mind, body, and soul.

If this resonates with you or someone you know, feel free to reach out. Taking that first step is a courageous act of self-care.

For more on Kurban’s profile, please see https://www.drdil.co.uk/wellbeingtherapy. Our preference is to see you in person at least during the initial stages, and Kurban is available for online appointments too. We look forward to welcoming you to the Medi Shed.

With Love,

Dil x
