What to expect during and after treatment

Lumecca Peak is a non-invasive treatment, meaning there's no need for surgery, incisions, or extensive downtime. During the procedure, you'll feel a sensation similar to a rubber band snapping against the skin, but most patients tolerate the treatment well. You can use makeup straight away to cover up any redness.

After treatment, your skin may be slightly red and sensitive, much like a mild sunburn, but this should resolve within 24-48 hours. In the days following the procedure, pigmented lesions may darken before flaking off or fading away naturally. You should begin to see noticeable improvements in your skin tone and texture within a week or two after treatment. It's important to protect your skin from the sun following treatment, as it will be more sensitive to UV rays. Applying a high-SPF sunscreen and avoiding direct sunlight can help maintain your results and prevent further skin damage.

What is the treatment protocol?

I would perform a full medical/ lifestyle/consultation to see if you were a suitable candidate and have realistic goals.
Any potential contraindicated medications (e.g blood thinners/NSAIDs) would be ceased.
Anti HSV viral prophylaxis is recommended for patients with history of Herpes Simplex when treating the perioral area.
Skin cleansed with Clinisept
I apply a cooling gel to the skin to ensure seamless glide and maximum results

What areas can be treated and does it hurt?

Lemecca can be used on both the face and hands. Commonly treated areas on the face include: forehead, crows feet, upper eyelids, lower eyelids, nasolabial folds, jowls, smile lines and neck. I always advised a full face treatment! Lumecca is an essentially painless procedure with no downtime due to its precise technology and deep layer targeting of the skin. Slight redness in the treatment area is common post procedure, which subsides within the hour.

Post-treatment & schedule

Avoid heat treatments (sauna/steam room/swimming/exercise) for 48hrs
Avoid hot baths/showers for 48hrs (keep water tepid)
Avoid UV (sun or sunbeds) exposure in treatment area throughout treatment course and for 4 weeks after last treatment
Use UV/sun protection SPF30+ on any exposed areas (e.g. face) throughout treatment course and for 4 weeks after last treatment
Make-up may be applied after the treatment if skin is intact (do not apply over crusting)
Skin may be red/tight/with some edema for a day or so after treatment
May have darkening of pigmented lesions in next few mins which get even darker the next day/may have darkening of blood vessels
May have erythema/edema around pigments and vessels - local inflammation
A few days later may have crust of pigmented lesions that flakes off after 7-10 days (should be left alone and must not be picked/scratched)
Results may require more than one treatment - generally a course of 3 advised
